Bridlington is preparing for the arrival of Storm Bert, which is expected to bring heavy winds and rain to the area over the next few days.
Sea conditions around Bridlington harbour have been described as horrendous, with seas being whipped up by the strong winds around the South Pier area.
Flooding is also reported on Crofts Hill in Flamborough.
Several areas in Bridlington and Flamborough have reported to be without an electricity supply.
Northern Powergrid is saying on its website:
“WE ARE RESPONDING TO STORM BERT
“Storm Bert has had some impact on our network. Our team is working to get the power back on quickly, wherever it’s safe to do so.
“Our power cut map shows estimated times for when we expect to get the power back on. Strong wind and snow can make working conditions challenging for our teams, impacting their ability to work at height. It means times provided have the potential to change.”
The Met Office has issued a weather warning, predicting gusts of up to 70 mph and heavy rainfall that could lead to localised flooding.
Forecasts indicate that the storm will begin impacting with conditions worsening overnight into Saturday.
Residents have been advised to secure loose items outdoors and remain cautious while traveling, as fallen trees and debris may pose hazards on roadways.
As the storm subsides, a clearer picture is expected for early next week, with drier conditions returning as temperatures remain mild for this time of year.
