There is another national champion to celebrate at Bridlington Boxing Club.

Oli Male has cemented his place among the country’s elite after being crowned Senior National Champion.
It is a remarkable achievement for an 18-year-old fighting in one of the sport’s toughest divisions.
Male delivered a clinical performance in Derby to secure a unanimous decision victory over Sunderland East End’s Robert Dunn to claim the

prestigious middleweight title.
The win capped off a flawless domestic campaign and confirmed his status as one of England’s brightest young talents.
Competing against seasoned senior opposition, Male showed maturity and composure throughout the tournament as he battled through a series of high-level contests.

He said: “To win the National Senior Championships at 18 is a massive moment for me. It’s one of the biggest tournaments in British boxing, so to come out on top is a massive step in my career.”
Male’s national triumph adds to an already extraordinary season. He remains undefeated with a 12-0 record and is currently riding a 30-fight win streak.
Earlier in the season he claimed European Youth gold in the Czech Republic before stepping up to senior level. As well as earning Yorkshire elite honours, Male completed a clean sweep of major titles at regional, national and international level.

The historic national victory opens the door to the next stage of his career.
Male has been selected to represent England at senior level in the upcoming Four Nations tournament and continues to progress through Great Britain assessments as he pursues his dream of competing at the Olympic Games.
Club head coach Damien Grant said: “For a boxer still in his teens, Oli’s achievement is exceptional. Winning a senior national title at 18 places him in rare company and marks him out as a serious prospect for the future of British boxing.”

Alongside Male at the National Finals was former Bridlington boxer Emily Asquith.
She also clinched a national title, with a second-round stoppage victory over her opponent in the women’s heavyweight division.
Grant added: “Boxing in Bridlington is booming and the likes of both Oli and Emily provide great role models to the younger kids coming through.”
