The Bridlington Town Council has received a prestigious Local Councils Quality Award – the Quality Award is the second highest award a local council can receive – and recognises that a council has demonstrated and achieved good practice in governance, community engagement and council improvement.
The award was presented to Bridlington Mayor Cllr Cyril Marsburg and Town Clerk Paula King, by Cllr Gordon Thurston who is President of the Local Councils Association (ERNLLCA) and also a NALC (National Association of Local Councils) National Assembly member.
Cllr Thurston said: “It was a pleasure to return to Bridlington, I have such fond memories of many happy family holidays in the resort. It is also a pleasure to be here to present the Quality Award to Bridlington Town Council.”
Bridlington is the first council in the East Riding to achieve this national accolade that recognises the hard work and dedication of the council.”
Said Cllr Thurston “The staff led by Mrs Paula King along with the town Councillors have shown throughout the assessment process that the council has met and exceeded the criteria required to be awarded the Quality Award“.
Cllr Thurston added, “Speaking to Councillors and staff here today, the commitment and dedication of all involved in the organisation shines through, the residents of Bridlington Town can be proud of their Council, and its commitment to continue to strive to improve the town for its residents and visitor alike.”
The Mayor, Cllr Marsburg, said, “It is a proud day for Bridlington Town Council and I am pleased to see the Council realise this achievement.”
