The Echo has received reports of part of the cliff face near to the golf course path on the Flamborough headland eroding so badly that the coastal pathway is almost inaccessible.
ERYC’s Coastal Serice Team put out regular warnings about the dangers of erosion and landslips on the cliff faces along the coastline in this area.
In a statement earlier this year they said:
The East Riding coastline is the fastest eroding coastlines in Europe, but it isn’t just caused by the action of the sea. After long periods of rain the movement of unstable earth can lead to coastal landslips.
Stay safe if you are walking along cliff tops, stay away from cliff edges, especially after heavy rain or during strong winds and do not walk directly under cliffs when walking along cliff lined beaches.
