The Met Office has issued an ‘amber’ warning for Storm Isha, which is expected to bring strong winds to the Bridlington area and across the UK on Sunday and into Monday.

The southwesterly winds are likely to reach speeds of 50-60 mph, with gusts of up to 60-70 mph in exposed areas like coastal regions.

There is a possibility of even stronger winds in some areas, but this is uncertain and updates will be provided in the coming days.

An Amber Wind Warning has been issued for the Bridlington and along the Yorkshire Coast, for Sunday and Monday.

The Met Office warns that this could cause disruptions to travel and utilities.

The Amber Warning highlights the potential for power cuts and other service disruptions, such as mobile phone coverage.

There is also a risk of damage to buildings and longer journey times due to road, rail, air, and ferry service disruptions. Some roads and bridges may even need to be closed for safety reasons. The strong winds may also pose a danger to life, with large waves and beach material being thrown onto coastal roads, sea fronts, and properties.

Current forecasts predict gusts of around 55 mph for the Yorkshire Coast on Sunday evening from Storm Isha.
