Soldiers from the Yorkshire Regiment marched through the streets of Bridlington today after earlier parading in Beverley as part of the freedom celebrations around the county marking the 20th anniversary of the regiment’s formation.

Residents lined pavements waving flags and applauding as troops, accompanied by military bands and veterans, made their way through both East Yorkshire communities on Sunday, June 7, 2026. The commemorative events recognised two decades since the regiment was established and highlighted its long-standing links with towns across Yorkshire.

In Beverley, crowds gathered in the town centre to watch the regiment receive a warm reception before the celebrations moved to Bridlington later in the day. Families, former service personnel and local dignitaries joined the commemorations, paying tribute to the dedication and service of soldiers past and present.
Organisers said the anniversary marches were designed to honour the regiment’s history while strengthening connections with the communities that have supported it over the years. Spectators described the occasion as a proud and moving display of military tradition.

The anniversary events underscored the enduring bond between the Yorkshire Regiment and the people of Yorkshire. The marches also offered younger generations an opportunity to learn about the regiment’s role and heritage across Yorkshire communities this weekend.
