After the recent storms and strong easterly winds deposited tons of seaweed, dead marine life, ocean debris and litter on Bridlington’s beaches volunteers have been out to help with the huge clean up operation.

Many helpers, as part of their daily exercise, have been collecting bags full of litter and debris, much of which had been brought up on the high storm tides

Matt Barnes, the Echo’s environmental columnist, was on hand with his own beach clean, helping to move dozens of bags of waste off the beach for ERYC workers to collect in their tractor.

If you want to clean and remove litter and debris from our beaches please use thick gardening gloves, a picker if you have one, sturdy boots and a thick bin bag. There are lots of sharp objects amongst the seaweed so please be extremely careful.
