After the recent storms and strong easterly winds deposited tons of seaweed, dead marine life, ocean debris and litter on Bridlington’s beaches volunteers have been out to help with clean up.
Dead marine creatures were strewn around the beach
Many helpers, as part of their daily exercise, collected litter and debris, much of which had been brought up on the high storm tides
Some of the dozens bags of litter and debris removed from Bridlington North Beach
Matt Barnes, the Echo’s environmental columnist, was on hand with the beach clean, helping to move dozens of bags of waste off the beach for ERYC workers to collect in their tractor.
North Becah clean up
Matt commented: “Great work thanks to Sea Champions North East volunteers of the Marine Conservation Society and the Bridlington foreshores team for their efforts.” See the March edition of the Echo for full report and pictures of the beach clean.
