Bridlington author Kim Lomas, has turned her passion for animal welfare into a heartfelt children’s book – designed to raise awareness of puppy farming while supporting charities.

Her book, Lavender Among the Daffodils, tells the story of Tudor Chops, a dog who runs away from home after misunderstanding a conversation between his adopters. During his journey he discovers an evil elf operating a cruel puppy farm, sparking a magical rescue mission led by leprechauns, elves and Lavender Smeltworthy O’Clack, a witch devoted to kindness and nature.
The story also introduces “Number 9”, a neglected Lhasa Apso abandoned after years of suffering on the puppy farm. Ms Lomas said the tale is based on truth but written in a gentle and imaginative way to help children understand the issue compassionately.

All profits from the book are donated to animal rescues, with this month’s royalties supporting St Mungo’s.
East Yorkshire artist Glenn Marshall created the cover artwork free of charge to support the charitable project.
