Bridlington ultra-distance runner Karyn Hoggard is set to take on one of the UK’s most demanding endurance events this May, as she prepares to run the Hardmoors 110-mile ultramarathon along the rugged Cleveland Way.

The race, taking place on 23–24 May, stretches from Filey to Helmsley and includes a gruelling 16,500 feet of ascent, with participants given just 36 hours to complete the course.

For Karyn who owns Tiffin & Co on the Promenade, the challenge is not only physical but also deeply personal. She is using the event to raise £1,100—equivalent to £10 per mile—for the Andrew Clark Trust.

The charity provides vital support in Myanmar, including free English education at the Vera Thomson English School, healthcare services, and sponsored education programs aimed at breaking the cycle of poverty.

Karyn’s connection to the charity is close to home. Her aunt, Trish, is a trustee of the charity and regularly travels overseas to deliver aid where it is needed most.

Encouraging supporters to contribute Karyn said jokingly: “A £10 or small donation is far less painful than running 110 miles.”

Karyn hopes that with backing from at least 110 supporters, she will reach her fundraising goal while conquering the formidable ultramarathon.
