Members of a group of retired Royal Navy veterans and their partners enjoyed a long and convivial weekend in Bridlington recently and met up with local service groups during their annual visit to the town.

Buddies in Boats are a national group of ex-submariners and Royal Navy personnel who fundraise and donate to local good causes in the towns that they visit during re-unions.

During the Bridlington weekend, the group held a
service at the War Memorial on Prospect Street where wreaths were laid in memory of fallen comrades.

Several local veterans joined in with the Buddies weekend and re-kindled friendships from previous visits.

Cheques of £400 were presented to SSAFA and St Catherine’s Hospice at the War memorial service and members adjourned to the Telegraph pub on Quay Road for refreshments.

The group are already another planning another weekend planning rally in Bridlington next year.
