Today (Sunday 8 December) marks 10-years since 32-year-old Damion Vernon went missing, after leaving his home in Bridlington and travelling to Wakefield, and Humberside Police are renewing our appeal alongside his now 23-year-old daughter Courtney, to help find him.

Twenty three year-old Courtney Vernon last saw her father Damion Vernon a decade ago and she has hoped her desperate appeal is shared around the country. 

Inspector Owen Stafford from our Locate team said: “Over the course of the last 10 years our investigation has remained open as we have continued to explore every possible line of enquiry to help in locating Damion.

“In the hope that it may provide officers with new lines of enquiry to locate Damion, now 42-years-old, we are releasing CCTV recovered as a part of our initial investigation launched in 2014.

“Since Damion was reported missing, we have spoken with hundreds of members of the public, collated thousands of hours of CCTV, conducted searches of the River Calder and followed the route Damion took the day before he was reported missing.

“Alongside the Major Crime Team, we were able to trace Damion’s movements on Monday 8 December 2014. The last confirmed sighting was at around 2.15pm when Damion visited TSB Bank on Manor Street (below), before he left Bridlington in a blue Vauxhall Corsa, registration number YH51 FLL.

ANNIVERSARY APPEAL IN FULL – DAMION VERNON

Damion Vernon was 32 years old when he went missing on 8 December 2014 from Bridlington, East Yorkshire. He left his home in Headlands Close to take a friend to buy a car in Sheffield. He travelled in a blue Vauxhall Corsa registration number YH51 FLL.

Described as 6ft in height and of slim build, with short wavy light-brown hair and hazel/green eyes. Damion was wearing a mustard-coloured gilet, green long-sleeved woollen jumper and jeans.

The father-of-two was captured on CCTV at 2.15pm entering a bank in Bridlington on the same day. A recorded sighting suggests Damion was last seen walking down an alleyway on a housing estate in Wakefield. His family do not know why he was there and despite a thorough investigation, the purpose of his visit has never been established. The Vauxhall Corsa was found abandoned on Sycamore Street in the Belle Vue area of the city.

In the weeks following Damion’s disappearance, specialist diving teams performed a 35-mile search of the nearby River Calder. Humberside Police reviewed hundreds of hours of CCTV and actioned every alleged sightings of the 32-year-old. Officers investigating his disappearance completed all lines of enquiry in June 2015. There is no suggestion of criminal activity and remains a long-term missing person case.
