A local resident who lost his eye-sight after complications during surgery has undertaken a mammoth 245 mile charity walk.
Andrew Elliker-Reeve undertook the major challenge throughout September by tackling the Charles III England Coastal Path.
He set off from the Borders (Berwick upon Tweed) trekking along the East coast, walking 245 miles (294 km) to Bridlington to raise money for the Guide Dogs for the Blind charity.
Andrew, who lives at Beeford, walked for 21 days continuously towards Bridlington, where he was greeted by supporters and the deputy of Bridlington Mayor Cllr Angela Walker.
He completed the incredible challenge with a large number of guides helping him along the way – 11 who have guided him before.
The epic walk commenced on the 9th September 2024, and finished at the Gansey Girl statue on Bridlington Harbour on 29th September.
All funds raised will go to Guide Dogs UK – with over £10,000 collected already.
Last year, a walk on the Cleveland Way raised over £9,100
“This walk will do a great deal to provide independence for those not fortunate enough to have the benefit of sight.” said Andrew.
