After a series of reports surrounding motorcycles and quad bikes being driven dangerously around Bridlington, Humberside Police have targeted a campaign in the town to prevent the growing menace.

A police spokesperson explained: “We are very much aware of an increase in the issues with problem motorcycles and quad bikes being ridden around Bridlington in a dangerous manner.

“They are a risk to other road users, cause damage to land and crops, and they inflict misery on the community around them.

“For obvious reasons catching them is not always an easy task, however any machines found being ridden illegally will be seized and disposed of whilst the offenders will be dealt with.

On Wednesday (18th September) the police ran their first of many Special Operations aimed at tackling the individuals responsible.

Officers from the Specialist Operations Unit were riding powerful off-road motorcycles and Operation Yellowfin officers and Neighbourhood officers, attended the relevant hotspot locations.

“We were also joined by Humberside Fire and Rescue Service who employed their very latest and impressive drone technology to help us catch the culprits.

“As a result of the excellent team work, on this occasion another illegal Quad bike was removed from the streets.

“Such resources will continue to attend Bridlington unannounced in the future, but we still need your help.” added the spokesperson.

The public are urged to report any information regarding these machines and riders to the police via 101, or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
