A determined Bridlington man completed an extraordinary 97.7-mile mobility scooter journey and raised more than £1,200 for a hospital department that has supported him through cancer treatment.

Robin Beevers travelled from Bridlington to Ingoldmells aboard his S800 Scoozy mobility scooter, completing the challenge in 33 hours and 21 minutes despite battling three punctures and difficult sections of dual carriageway along the route.
The fundraising effort was inspired by Robin’s own cancer journey. Diagnosed with neck cancer in March 2025, which later spread to his lungs, he has undergone radiotherapy, immunotherapy and is currently receiving chemotherapy.

Following the challenge, Robin visited York Hospital’s Head and Neck Cancer Department to present a cheque for £1,223.27, with the total set to increase further through Gift Aid contributions.
Robin said: “First, I’d like to thank Ian Crowther and Diane Cawley for my support vehicle on my journey, and Wayne and Musgrave Transport for the transport home. I’d also like to thank Beverley Mobility, Holcombe Guest House, Mobility Menz in Louth and Tony ‘HTFC’ Martin
“I went to York Hospital Head and Neck Cancer Department with a cheque for £1,223.27. This has all been possible through family, friends and strangers. All I can say is that it is amazing and thank you.”

Robin’s achievement has been widely praised, with supporters helping him turn a personal challenge into a successful fundraising effort.
