Humber Coastguard has been coordinating a medical evacuation from a ferry in the North Sea, around 12 nautical miles off Flamborough Head.
The incident involves the King Seaways overnight service from Newcastle to Amsterdam. The vessel was offshore when a medical emergency was reported on board.
Coastguard officers based at Limekiln Lane in Bridlington tasked a Search and Rescue helicopter to attend the scene and assist with the transfer of a casualty from the ship.
Due to the ferry’s distance from land, air support was deployed to ensure the patient could receive urgent medical treatment
The condition of the casualty has not yet been confirmed.
