A Bridlington mum will be cycling 300 miles throughout March to raise funds for a charity that helped to save her sons life.
Jessica Salter will undertake the mammoth challenge with the aim of raising £300 for the Childrens Air Ambulance charity.
“I picked this charity because when my son, Arthur, was born 6 weeks premature he was moved to Scarborough Hospital Special Care Baby Unit for two weeks.” said Jessica.
When Arthur’s condition worsened it was decided to transfer him to Hull Royal Infirmary.
“He had to go to Hull and they called the specialist Children’s Air Ambulance Helicopter to get him back to Scarborough hospital because it was quicker and safer.”
The Children’s Air Ambulance is an inter-hospital transfer service flying critically ill babies and children from one hospital to another for specialist care. They can cover a journey approximately four times faster than a land ambulance and can minimise travel times and the risk for little patients.
Arthur, now aged 6, will also be keeping Jessica company by cycling some of the miles throughout March.
