A wave of support is building around Bridlington mum Klair Hardy and her family after the devastating news that her brain tumour has been diagnosed as a Grade 4 Astrocytoma – an aggressive and terminal form of brain cancer.

Klair is mum to Lily, 14, and Lennon, 12.

Klair, who owns a successful cleaning company and is known by many for always putting others first, has spent the last three months battling her diagnosis. She is currently undergoing six weeks of intensive chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatment at Castle Hill Hospital, attending appointments five days a week in a bid to prolong her survival. Following this treatment, Klair will have a four-week break before beginning a year-long course of chemotherapy.

Her sister, Gemma Hardy, has now organised a series of fundraising events aimed at easing some of the enormous pressures facing the family.

Klair is mum to Lily, 14, and Lennon, 12 and family members say one of biggest wishes is to help create special memories together during this incredibly difficult time.

Gemma, alongside her brother, sister family members and supporters will take on a 26-mile charity walk on September 12 in aid of the Brain Trust charity in support of Klair.

She said the fundraising efforts are not only intended to help with hospital travel, household bills and day-to-day living costs, but also to give Klair and her children opportunities to spend precious time together without the added burden of financial worries.

Fundraising events are being held at the Ship Inn at Sewerby.

Additional support is also coming from local businesses and members of the community. Charlie Kilburn, from The Ship at Sewerby, is set to complete a skydive on July 5 to raise money for Klair.

The same day will also see a family charity event held at the venue featuring bouncy castles, face painting, live music, a barbecue and much more, with proceeds going towards Klair’s fundraising appeal.

Klair is mum to Lily, 14, and Lennon, 12.

Further generosity has come from the owner of Temp Station Ltd, who has pledged to match £5,000 if the fundraiser reaches that target.
