Bridlington Echo sports editor Steve Penny is appealing for help in compiling his next book.
After his recent publication Home is Away, telling the story of Scarborough Athletic’s one-year stay in Bridlington, he is pulling together a ground guide to clubs in the east of Yorkshire.
He will be visiting every ground that hosts football, from the Premier League to the Humber Premier League, but is keen to hear from anyone with knowledge of grounds at lower levels with a story to tell. That could be an amazing backdrop or furniture of some type, such as a stand or permanent dug-outs.
Steve is also keen to include details of clubs that no longer exist, as well as leagues that have folded.
He said: “I was a regular visitor to Bridlington Trinity, but have not kept any pictures from those days. If anyone has pictures of the Queensgate ground before it was rebuilt in the 1990s, I would be keen to use them in the book.
“Slightly further afield, if anyone has pictures from Hall Road Rangers, or even Hull Brunswick, I would be very interested to use them.
“Similarly, anyone with knowledge of the Driffield League or East Riding Amateur League, or, further back in time, the Bridlington & District League, which ran until 1958, the East Riding Church League, which became the Humberside League in 1952 and ran until 1999, or the various Hull Leagues, or even the 1920s Wolds League, please get in touch.”
