Bridlington Rovers 3 – Bridlington Sports Club 4
Bridlington Sports club took on Bridlington Rovers Millau in the second battle of Brid – the second in as many games.
With extreme weather conditions causing havoc around the country, the game was fortunate to go ahead with a ferocious wind blasting over the artificial pitch at the CYP stadium.

Rovers won the toss and decided to have the wind in their favour and immediately forced Sports Club (BSC) on the back foot with long balls allowing the Rovers forwards to chase.
Eventually their pressure paid off with Toby Marriott and Callum Cheetham getting 2 goals in the first 30 minutes.
BSC tried to play football against the storm force wind but struggled to get out of their own half.
After half-an-hour BSC made two substitutes – introducing Ryan Stockdale and Archie Brown.
This immediately changed the game with sports club netting a goal from Stockdale to make it 2-1 at half time.

With the BSC team talk about being patient and knowing they would get chances – they brought on Craig Young for Kieran Tate and had the advantage of the wind in their favour.
Within minutes of the second half restart, Billy Tyler equalised. This caused the Rovers defence to argue with the referee, demonstrating that they thought the goal was offside.
After a difference of opinions the referee dismissed Joey Baker and sin-binned another player.
BSC tried to capitalise on this with Josh Christlow getting his first goal – but credit to Rovers – they organised well and made it difficult to break down the resolute defence.

Eventually Christlow added his second with the goal of the game – a cracker of a strike from the edge of the box to make it 4-2.
Sports Club introduced Andrew Home and Evan Jemison but Rovers kept coming and eventually got a third goal from the ever bright Toby Marriott to make it a nervy ending.
Sports Club held on and saw the game out to go onto the next round.
In fairness credit has to go to the players playing in the horrendous conditions and to Rovers when down to 10 men defended resolutely.
Bridlington Rovers Man of the match: Tom Sharp.
Bridlington Sports Club Man of the match: Josh Christlow
