Two traditional events will take place in the historic Old Town Bridlington this December.
The Dickensian YardFest and the Lantern Parade will light upon the town on the weekend of the 2nd – 3rd December as businesses get set for the popular festive events.

After the success of the Vintage Festival in the summer organisers of the Dickensian Festival – ROBOT (Regeneration of Bridlington Old Town) – want to provide a unique ‘Old Town Dickensian December’ themed day of costumes, craft and food stalls in rear courtyards and back yards, street entertainment, music and Santa’s grotto – but without closing High Street and the huge associated costs.

The event will – for this year – be entitled The Bridlington Old Town Dickensian YardFest and will see stalls inside the quaint shops and back yards of the Old Town businesses.
Destination Old Town (DOT) team will be holding the annual Lantern walk on 2nd December from 5pm.

Prior to this there will be four free workshops to create the lanterns at the Black Lion Theatre on 5th, 12th, 19th and 26th November between 11am and 4pm. Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.
The Lantern Walk will take place along High Street from the Black Lion to the Priory Church Green and then back – following the same route in reverse.

Visitors to the Dickensian YardFest will see businesses recreate the scenes of yesteryear with traditional costume and ‘olde worlde charm’.
Martyn Coltman from ROBOT explained “All activities will again take place on private land, which means we do not require a road closure of High Street.

“We did something similar for The Vintage Festival in June and the public loved how it worked.”
