Sewerby Hall and
Gardens – in partnership
with the Bridlington
Echo – are once again
launching a photography
competition to celebrate
the unique and stunning
wildlife of East Yorkshire.
The county has an
abundance of wildlife,
from colourful Puffins
at Bempton cliffs to
twittering sparrows in
the hedgerows of the
countryside – hares in the
fields to frogs in village
ponds.
There are unlimited
opportunities to
photograph living nature
at its finest in the East
Riding.
Twelve images will
be selected from the
entries, and each will be
enlarged and displayed in
the grounds of Sewerby
Hall and Gardens.
The public can then
vote for their favourite
picture when they visit
Sewerby Hall & Gardens,
forms available from the
Visitor Centre.
Each of the 12 selected
entries will receive two
tickets to see the Wildlife
Photographer of the Year
exhibition at Sewerby
Hall & Gardens.
The overall winner,
chosen from all the
entries, wins a fabulous
high tea for two at Tiffin
& Co, on Promenade in Bridlington and a 12-month
pass to Sewerby Hall &
Gardens.
All winners will be
presented with their
picture from the display
to keep, from mid-
September, available
from the Visitors Centre
at Sewerby Hall &
Gardens.
Last year’s winner was
the delightful image of
a seal playing peek-a-
boo and was
captured on camera by
Kim Bone.
How to enter and rules:
- Only ONE entry per person.
- Images must be taken within the boundaries of the
East Riding of Yorkshire. - All entries must be the original work of the
photographer and submitted by them. - Images submissions by EMAIL ONLY as JPEG’s.
File size not less than 2mb and not more than 15mb
in size. - No prints, images on USB sticks, memory cards etc.
will be accepted.
The photographer, by entering the competition, gives
East Riding of Yorkshire Council (ERYC) and Echo Media
Group (EMG) full permission and rights to reproduce the
image and use it for print media, future publicity, and
electronic publications/ platforms/ social media free of
charge in perpetuity.
Judge’s decision is final and no correspondence will not
be entered into.
Act responsibly and please be mindful of the
environment of the wildlife you are photographing and
do not disturb or get too near to any animal or habitat
in obtaining your images.
Closing date for entries is 5th May 2025. Finalists
names will be announced in mid May 2025. The winner
will be announced in August, 2025.
