Villagers in the Bempton and Buckton area have, this morning (5 February, 2026) been sending in reports of ‘dirty tap water’ and low water pressure.
Yorkshire Water have several vehicles and workmen in the villages and they say that they are ‘flushing out the water pipes’.
A Yorkshire Water spokesperson said: “We are carrying out routine flushing of the network in the YO15 and YO16 area between 3 and 13 of February, a maintenance process that improves the quality of the local water supply.”
This process can result in temporary low water pressure or cloudy or discoloured water, which can be cleared by running the tap for a few minutes. We apologise for the inconvenience.”
