A local school cook has hung up her apron after preparing and serving hundreds of thousands of school meals during the past 26 years.
Linda Scargill, who was the Head Cook at Burlington School, has seen thousands of pupils start and finish their primary education and embraced being part of the school community.

“I have been so lucky doing a job that I love all these years, and I shall miss everyone so much.” said Linda.
Linda managed a small team in the kitchen, ensuring everything ran smoothly and that high quality food was served. During her time at the school she forged strong links with both staff and the pupils alike, embracing being part of the school community.

“I am grateful to the whole school community for all the kindness, friendship and support over the years.” she added.
Mrs Alison Beckett, Headteacher at Burlington Junior school said: “We would like to wish Mrs Scargill all the very best in her retirement from Burlington School. We thank her for all
her hard work, dedication and commitment to the role as head cook. She will be greatly missed.”

The school presented Linda with flowers and several gifts on her final day at the school.
“I am now looking forward to spending a bit more time with my family and friends.” Linda said.
