A brand-new theatre group is lighting up Bridlington’s performing arts scene. Out of the Fire Theatre, based at Our Lady and St Peter’s Church Hall on Victoria Road, is bringing fresh energy and creativity to the town’s cultural calendar.
The group meets every Wednesday evening from 7–9pm, offering a packed programme of workshops, courses, play readings, theatre visits and trips — along with two full productions each year.
“Together we love learning, laughing a lot and, most importantly, making theatre accessible, friendly, and fun for everyone in Bridlington and its surrounding areas,” said member Kath Taylor.
Despite being made up mostly of newcomers to drama and performance, Out of the Fire Theatre has already made a strong impression. Earlier this year, the group staged Sassy Sirens and Flighty Fellas – an evening of one-act comedy plays – and brought a witty Jane Austen spoof to the Vintage Day in Bridlington’s Old Town.
The group will take to the stage at the Bridlington Spa on Monday 11 November for one night only, performing Goodnight Princess: Sleepless in Fairytale Land as part of the Sparklers Showcase.
They will then round off the year with their eagerly anticipated winter production, A Christmas Carol – 3 Ways, to be performed at OLSP Church Hall on 26–27 November, 5–6 December, and 11–12 December.
There’s also a chance to catch a sneak preview at The Black Lion during the Bridlington Old Town Christmas Festival on 30 November.
Tickets for A Christmas Carol – 3 Ways are priced at £5 and are available from www.ticketsource.co.uk/xmascarol3way, Mirkwood on High Street, or Planetwise on Prospect Street.
