A local authoress has seen one of her ambitions fulfilled with the launch of a beautifully illustrated childrens book at the Seacourt Hotel in Bridlington.

Rebecca Phillipson created and wrote the book – The Lost Bunny – which will be officially released on general sale on November 1st.
Said Rebecca: “I’ve thought about writing a children’s book for some time now.

“I thrived from the challenge of setting up a team to bring a story to life, and I really wanted to work closely with an Illustrator (Jasmine Stephenson).
“The inspiration came from my house bunny (named Chance) who we had for over 10 years. He was a black and white Netherland Dwarf who had the run of the house, he had such a personality and I always wanted to pay tribute to him in some way.

“The hard work really has only just begun with the hope of getting big distribution for The Lost Bunny as well as aiming to secure a literacy agent.” she added.
Rebecca also started to get involved with the Bridlington-based Acorn Rabbit Rescue after seeing all the hard work the group does.

“We raised £199.38p for Acorn with the raffle, name the bunny and the charity pot-which I am thrilled about. I almost sold out of books by 11pm with quite a few that didn’t make it – putting in online orders.”
And Rebecca’s advice for any budding author would be to just go for it.
“I always think the hardest part is just starting. Writing is such a personal and creative process.

“I never thought when I first started writing my first Novella ‘Life Long Lesson’ that it would be a published book read by over 10,000 people almost 2 years later. Just have confidence, put pen to paper and let your creativity take you on a journey.” Rebecca added.
The Lost Bunny can be pre-ordered from Rebecca via the Seacourt Hotel on South Marine Drive or from Sissy & One on High Street in Old Town.
