Bridlington’s next generation of police, nurses, soldiers, firefighters, paramedics and other heroes found out more about what it takes to do the job at Headlands School’s Careers Fair.
Dozens of visitors filled The Barn to give more than 1,000 students the information they need about the world of work, or how to get on the course they want at university.
Each year group spent time chatting to the exhibitors, who were representing the NHS, the emergency services, the Armed Forces and local employers.
It was not quite an A to Z of jobs, there were no astronauts or zookeepers, but the students had the chance to meet people working in the fields of accountancy, agriculture, construction, law, fishing, tourism, healthcare, the media and more to learn about the qualities and qualifications they need.
A number of universities and colleges were also represented so that students could plan their next move, whether it is a degree, an apprenticeship or training.
David Stamper, associate assistant head at Headlands, said: “Thank you very much to all the employers, colleges and universities who came into school to inspire our students.
“The feedback from the visitors has been very positive and they were impressed with how polite and engaged our students were throughout the day.

“From Year 7 through to the Sixth Form, we value giving our students as many opportunities as possible, both inside and outside the classroom.
“The Careers Fair is one of a number of activities we hold each year to give Team Headlands students a great insight into the range of jobs available locally, and we are sure that they enjoyed the day and found it really useful.”
