Significant and important changes to some of the Ecclesiastical parish boundaries in Bridlington have been announced.

The result of these changes have some very practical and real effects on the people living in Bridlington.
• The Ecclesiastical Parish of Bridlington Priory has significantly increased in size with several thousand more people in Bridlington now living within its parish boundaries. This means that those living in the Bridlington Priory Parish are able to be married there, have their funeral and be buried there in the churchyard and also have their children christened there. It becomes their Church of England parish church. Reverend Neil Bowler, as the Rector at Bridlington Priory, is now responsible for their pastoral and spiritual care.

• The Ecclesiastical parish of Holy Trinity church no longer exists and the Holy Trinity church building, along with a small area of what was in its parish, now form part of the Christ church network.
Revd Neil Bowler, Rector of the Priory, said:
“All at Bridlington Priory are very excited by the prospect of many more people living within its parish. The historic and beautiful Bridlington Priory now becomes their Parish church to which all are welcome.

“The significant changes to the ecclesiastical parish boundaries mean that several thousand more people in Bridlington will now have the magnificent Bridlington Priory as their parish church. A place where all are welcome.”
“Bridlington Priory has served the community for over 910 years and I look forward to serving all in the newly extended parts of the parish as their priest.

“These are exciting times in the life of Bridlington Priory with so many great things happening as we serve the people of Bridlington and I’m looking forward to the opportunities and the challenges that growing in size as a parish will bring.”
