Several residents in the Queensgate area of Bridlington have contacted the Bridlington Echo asking if anybody knows what is causing a buzzing noise – which is often heard during the evening and into the early hours of the morning.

The noise, which has been described as a ‘deep buzzing sound’ has, according to one resident been going on for some time.

Glenn Johnson contacted the Echo to ask if anyone else had heard the noise, which is most prevalent overnight.

“Does anyone know what that buzzing noise is that’s been going on for ages?”

“It happens every night sometimes – at 2 in the morning.” Glenn added.

“It’s is so loud with my hearing aids.
It starts about teatime and is still going on…it’s been going on for weeks” continued Glenn.

Other householders have heard the noise, with one saying it was happening every night.

Another resident said: “Sometimes it’s really loud and you can hear it inside the house. I’m thinking it could be something to do with the railway as we live near to the tracks – but the noise is intermittent.”

Engineering work was carried out on much of the Bridlington to Scarborough railway track last year, but the reports of the unusual noises have only been reported recently.

Have you heard the noise? or do you know what is causing it?
