Sad news… thoughts to go out to the family and friends.

North Yorkshire Police have released this statement.

Sad news…body found in the search for missing Bridlington man…

“Body found in the search for man missing from Scarborough Hospital.

We’re sad to report that officers searching for missing Douglas Watts have yesterday evening (Wednesday 30 July 2025) recovered a body in Cloughton, near Scarborough.

Formal identification is yet to take place, but we believe the body is of Douglas who went missing on Wednesday 23 July 2025. We have updated the family of Douglas and our thoughts are with them at this difficult time.

Officers do not currently believe that there are any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and a report will be prepared for the coroner.

Thank you to everyone who contacted us with information to assist our searches.

NYP ref: 12250136181”
