More than 30 Pilates enthusiasts are proving that just two minutes a day can make a real difference as they take on a daily plank challenge to raise money for the Hinge Centre in Bridlington.

Laura-May Nurse, who leads the Pilates classes at Bridlington, said: “What began as a fun way to test strength and improve posture has grown intoan inspiring communityfundraiser.

Members of the Pilates classes at BridlingtonLinks set themselves the challenge of holding a two-minute plank every day, andmany have since gone well beyond that target.

“Several participants can now hold a plank for more than four minutes, with the current record standing at anincredible four minutes and10 seconds – a testament tothe strength, determinationand resilience they have developed through consistentpractice.

“The challenge has also created a fantastic team spirit, with participants encouraging one another while enjoying some friendly competition.

As well as raising money for charity, members are competing to take the most creative plank photo in a random location, adding plenty of fun along the way.

The attached photos show some imaginative locations, with Claire Williams taking the challenge international by completing her plank in Sydney, Australia.”

Laura added: “It all started as a bit of fun to challenge our strength and posture, but everyone enjoyed it so much that we decided to keep going.

The improvement has been amazing, and seeing people progress from two minutes to more than four minutes has been incredible. It’s brought us together while raising money for a wonderful local charity.”

The group has already raised more than £200 for the Hinge Centre and hopes to increase that total as the challenge continues. Anyone wishing to support the fundraiser can sponsor the team via the JustGiving page by searching for “Bridlington Links Pilates”.

Anyone inspired by the challenge is invited to join one of Laura’s daily Pilates classes at Bridlington Links.
