Organisers of the first-ever Pride event are counting down the days until July 2 when the Spa Royal Hall will host the free Bridlington Pride event – and everyone is welcome.

Celebrations for the start of Pride will begin with the Three Brass Monkeys pub on Prince Street hosting the pride pre-party event on Friday 1 July.

Donna Walker, who is the Co-chairperson of Bridlington Pride, said:

“We launched the sale of our new, biodegradable wristbands which can be purchased from the Three Brass Monkeys and other venues.

“We are still appealing for anyone that would like to get involved with Bridlington Pride in whatever form they are able.

“We especially need volunteers to organise our socials and help out with running our ever-expanding youth group, B.A.M.

“Humberside Fire & Rescue are providing a fully ‘Pride-Decorated’ fire appliance for the day as well as sponsoring the Family Room.

“Humberside Police Band will be performing on the day, in addition to members of the constabulary volunteering to be involved in a secret project

“Morrisons Community Champions for Bridlington, Scarborough and Malton have also bought wristband packs to sell in their stores, and we’ve received permission from the Bridlington Store, to position promotional banners on their fences in the run up to the big day.

There are still some ‘stalls’ available to hire for businesses and services for the Spa event at a cost of £50 for a six-foot table (electricity provision is limited and is an additional £10).
