A Bridlington family who have been Lego fans for years have opened a dedicated shop selling alternative building block models from
a new business premises on Bessingby
Industrial Estate.

The business was initially a lockdown venture and started in April 2020 as a
‘tabletop business’ creating a bit of ‘pocket money’ for the family.
Friends of the family also started to order models and with the launch
of a dedicated website and
other selling websites, they
soon realised that this was
going be a whole lot more, so the family decided to open up what they believe is the country’s first dedicated
showroom of alternative building block models that are for sale.
Owner Lee Johnstone explained: “We are possibly the largest dedicated
stockist of building block
models in the UK and we have a large range of models to choose from.
“We have something for all ages, abilities and budgets along with a large display of completed models.”
Lee and his family spent about 6 months creating the display of models and said the response they had received had been wonderful.
He added: “With nervous apprehension, we opened at the end of February 2024 and the initial response
and feedback has been incredibly positive… ‘wow’ is a word we hear quite often in our showroom.
“We just want to make people aware that there are quality alternative brands available at affordable prices
and the initial response and feedback would suggest that we have done just that. We also run an in-store loyalty
scheme and a Christmas Savers Club – just ask for details.”
Building Block World is open over the Easter Holidays –
Monday to Thursday – 9am to 2pm.
Friday to Sunday – 9am to 3pm.
The shop has a wide range of models and something for all ages, abilities and budgets.
