It’s ‘business as usual’ as a popluar pub near Bridlington has re-opened its kitchen today (30 April) after fire damaged the area last week.

The Martonian Inn, based on Jewison Lane, near to Sewerby, had to close the catering side of the pub after fire damaged the flue and extraction equipment on April 22nd.
Owners Chris and Lisa Hough explained: “We dusted ourselves off and begun the clean-up operation as soon as the Fire and Rescue teams left.

“Fortunately no one was hurt and we hadn’t opened the doors for the day to customers.
“We would all like to thank our customers and friends for their lovely comments and concerns – it was a bit of shock, but no we are now back up and running with the food service.”

Despite the fire, the pub area remained fully open during the last week, with many regulars and visitors calling in to check how everyone was.
The Martonian is open daily (except Monday) from 12 noon, with food served all day and a carvery on Wednesday and Sunday.
