To celebrate the forthcoming Wildlife Photographer of the Year, Sewerby Hall and Gardens – in partnership with the Bridlington Echo – have again launched a photography competition to celebrate the unique and stunning wildlife of East Yorkshire.
The county has an abundance of wildlife, from colourful Puffins at Bempton cliffs to twittering sparrows in the hedgerows of the countryside – rabbits in the fields to ducks on village ponds.
Twelve images will be selected from the entries, and each will be enlarged and displayed in the Bluebell woodlands of Sewerby Hall and Gardens.
Each of the 12 winning entries will receive two tickets to see the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition at Sewerby Hall and Gardens.
The overall winner, chosen from all the entries, will win a fabulous High Tea for two at Tiffin & Co, Market Place in the Old Town, a 16 x 20 inch canvas courtesy of the Bridlington Echo, and a 12-month season pass for one to Sewerby Hall and Gardens.
All winners can keep their images that have been displayed at Sewerby after 5th August, 2024.
Votes can be made for the finalist photographs at Sewerby Hall & Gardens visitor centre (voting forms available from the centre) until the end of the Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition – July 16.
How to enter and rules
1. Only ONE entry per person.
2. Images must be taken within the boundaries of the East Riding of Yorkshire.
3. All entries must be the original work of the photographer and submitted by them. (Proof may be asked for).
4. Images should be sent by EMAIL ONLY, as JPEG format and not less than 2mb and not more than 6mb in size. Prints, images on USB sticks, memory cards or other media will NOT be accepted.
5. The photographer, by entering the competition, gives East Riding of Yorkshire Council (ERYC) and Echo Media Group (EMG) full permission and rights to reproduce the image and use it for print media, future publicity, and electronic publications/ platforms/ and any social media free of charge.
6. Judge’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
7. Act responsibly and please be mindful of the environment of the wildlife you are photographing and do not disturb or get too near to any animal or habitat in obtaining your images.
8. Winning images from the twelve selected that have been displayed will be available to collect from Sewerby Hall from August 5th.
9. Closing date for entries is 20th April 2024.
