Bridlington CYP will play host to the National Finals of the NAGBC championships this coming weekend.
Dozens of boxers from all over the country descending on the town over the two days will looking to be crowned number one.
There will be a familiar face amongst the competitors as Bridlington boxer Frankie Thompson will be one those competing as he takes part in his fourth National final.
With two titles to his name already, he is no stranger to these big occasions, but this will be the first time competing for such an honor on home soil. Not something that happens very often, if ever.
The action will take place from soon after 12pm on both Saturday and Sunday with around 40 contests per day across both rings.
Frankie will be boxing on the Saturday as he takes on Ethan Clifford from Brighton and Hove Boxing Club.
Looking forward to the final, Head Coach, Damien Grant said: “Frankie is no stranger to these kinds of contests with this now been his fourth national final as well as GB championships, but this will be the first time boxing so close to home on such a big occasion.
“His consistency in performing well in these kind of events is no accident, its testament to the work that he puts in.
“I know Frankie is looking forward to boxing, he always is, whether home or away.
“He comes into the contest in solid form, on the back of 13 straight victories and undefeated in just over a year.
“This will be his last championship before stepping up to the “youth” age group and will be looking to see things off in style”
