Flamborough’s much-loved Old Tuck Shop and Post Office has entered a new chapter with new Postmaster and Postmistress Nathan and Catherine Costigan taking over the business.
The couple have assumed the reins from Fiona and Nigel Holt – Catherine’s parents – who have run the popular village hub for many years. Catherine was born and raised in Flamborough, while Nathan hails from nearby Scarborough.
Nathan and Catherine, who have two children, Amelia and Harry, are keen to reassure customers that nothing drastic is changing.
“Business as usual,” they said. “We’re proud to continue what Fiona and Nigel built and keep the shop at the heart of the village.”
While the familiar service remains, the couple are already adding fresh ideas. New stock ranges are being introduced, including dog leads, treats and other canine-related items for Flamborough’s many four-legged residents and their owners.
They added: “We’re looking to expand more ranges in store, subject to demand. If people ask for something, we’ll do our best to get it in.”
Supporting the local economy is also a priority, with an increased focus on locally sourced food and produce and backing nearby businesses wherever possible.
The shop will continues to sell a large range of magazines and newspaper, as well as being the main Flamborough stockist for the Bridlington Echo.
The shop remains a vital stop for residents and visitors alike, offering everyday essentials alongside post office services in the heart of the village.
Winter opening times are: Monday to Saturday, 6am to 4pm, and Sundays from 6am to 11am.
