He has led Bridlington Air Cadets for over twelve years, but after deciding to step down, Warrant Officer Rob Hill has handed over the command of 252 (Bridlington) Squadron Royal Air Force Cadets to Pilot Officer Rosie Gregson.
Rob has overseen 252 Squadron Air Cadets since February 2012, after moving into the area. Previously he had been the Warrant Officer with 1324 (Hawker Blackburn) Squadron in Brough, near Hull.
Rob spent 30 years in the Royal Air Force as an RAF Policeman before joining the Air Cadet organisation.
Rosie joined the Bridlington Air Cadets at the age of 12.
When she first joined, she was asked what she wanted to achieve in the Cadets, she said she wanted to do as much as possible – be in the Squadron Drum Corps and have fun.
During her time in the cadets, she managed to achieve her Master Cadets Award and has risen to the rank of CadetWarrant Officer.
She also gained the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award, represented the Air Cadets at National Level Drumming at various events and had gained lots of other awards.
She has also been on numerous camps and even managed to get in a bit of flying as well as training the younger cadets on basic aviation techniques.
Rosie is looking forward to the challenge of running the Squadron and Rob will not be disappearing completely as he will be staying with the Squadron but in the capacity of Squadron Adjutant.
A presentation was also made to Mrs Gregson, who has been carrying out the duties of Squadron Adjutant for the last couple of years.
She will now go back to her post as Squadron Secretary on the Civilian Welfare Committee
