Battle of Flamborough Head mural is completed at Palace Car Park.

A striking new mural celebrating Bridlington’s maritime heritage has been completed at Palace Car Park and is already attracting attention from residents and visitors alike.
Artist Sam Porter created the impressive Battle of Flamborough Head artwork, which commemorates the famous 1779 naval battle fought off the Yorkshire coast.

The mural project has been delivered by the Bridlington Ambassadors in partnership with Bridlington Town Council, East Riding of Yorkshire Council officers, Quay Leisure and the Yorkshire Coast 1779 Group.
Martyn Coltman, of the Bridlington Ambassadors, said the response from the public had been overwhelmingly positive.
“We are delighted with how the mural has developed and the support it has received from the local community,” he said.

“Many people have stopped to watch the artwork taking shape and we are confident it will become a popular attraction for both residents and visitors. If you haven’t seen it yet, it’s well worth a visit.”
The project received a £5,000 ‘Do It For East Yorkshire’ (DIFEY) grant from East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s Local Growth Team, alongside support from a number of sponsors, including Bridlington Town Council.

As well as depicting the Battle of Flamborough Head, the design also includes references to the Great Gale, another significant event in the town’s history.
An official unveiling is expected to take place shortly once the mural is fully completed.
