Andy Norfolk struck early in the second half to earn Bridlington Town a point in a 1-1 draw with Frickley Athletic at The Hudgells Solicitor Stadium on Tuesday.
The visitors from South Elmsall dominated the first half but had only Danny Burns’ goal to show for their efforts.
Once Norfolk had levelled, it was all Town but they could not get the winner their possession deserved.
The point came as welcome relief though after Saturday’s disappointing 2-1 defeat at bottom club Tadcaster Albion.
Brett Agnew volleyed the Seasiders ahead in the sixth minute. Three minutes later the score was level after assistant referee Arran Williams flagged for a penalty when the ball hit Benn Lewis’ hand, even though it was by his side.
Romario Viera struck the spot kick beyond James Hitchcock.
Other scoring opportunities were hard to come by with one of few seeing Viera fire in a 59th-minute winner.
A yellow card for Norfolk was his fifth in the league this season and he will miss Saturday’s home game against Hebburn Town.
