As if by magic in Bridlington and the East Riding, the much-loved Harry Potter events are back!

Previously known as Harry Potter Book Night, Bloomsbury have rebranded the event to make the annual celebration even more inclusive for fans of all ages. Booking is required.
Bridlington Central Library will host the first STREAM event on 9 October, between 3.45pm – 4.45pm. The age group is 7 – 11 years incisive and the event is free.

A Magical Places event on 11 October at 5pm, also at Bridlington Central Library. Most suitable for, but not limited to, children aged 4-11yrs. Tickets – £3 per child. Adults do not need a ticket.
North Bridlington Library will host a Harry Potter Book Day on 12 October at 5.30pm

Finally a Harry Potter Hour of Code Event will return to Bridlington North Library on 14 October between 11am – 12pm. Suitable for age 7 – 11 years. Entry is free
Following this year’s theme of MAGICAL PLACES, join East Riding Libraries for a journey through all things Harry Potter via team games with a ‘minute-to-win-it’ to take home, take in specially chosen readings to set the scene and take part in the ever-popular themed hunt around the library.

Librarian Jess McCarthy is excited to see that the popularity of the series is still alive: “We have always had a great response to the Harry Potter events as the new generations of fans take an interest, and so we are really pleased to see these celebrations return after a slightly extended break, following the move from February to October.
“Whilst they are always rather hectic and fast-paced, it is certainly worthwhile to see the enjoyment they bring to both children and staff alike. Tickets tend to sell out very quickly, so don’t leave it too late!”
Fancy dress is welcomed, although not essential, and the libraries team love to see wands and other Harry Potter trinkets.

Most suitable for, but not limited to, children aged 4-11.
Tickets cost £3 per child (accompanying adults do NOT need to book a place or pay for a ticket) and must be booked in advance.

And – calling all coding wizards! East Riding Libraries have a selection of fun Harry Potter-themed coding activities for children to cast their magic wand – or at least their computer mouse – over!
This will be a chance to create code to make a feather levitate, play music with the Yule Ball Instruments, or even control the Weasleys’ Flying Car. Suitable for ages 7-11. Limited places, so book now online at the link below.
