It was almost a total win for the weather as the remains of the midweek snow and deep frosts caused many sporting cancellations due to frozen playing surfaces around the area.

Bridlington Town’s match away to Carlton Town was postponed after a pitch inspection by the hosts deemed the surface unplayable and Bridlington Rugby Club’s first team local derby against near rivals Scarborough was also called off due to a frozen pitch.

The Bridlington Mariners team however managed to play their match at Dukes Park.

Bridlington Hockey Club also saw their home match against Horsforth cancelled on Friday evening – again due to a frozen surface.

Right Car East Riding County League’s fixtures played on the 20th January 2024 saw the matches hit badly with weather again.
