Flamborough chippy shines again as national top 50 honour secured…
A much-loved Flamborough chippy has once again been recognised among the very best in the country. Lighthouse Fisheries, located on High Street, has been named as one of the UK’s 50 Best Fish & Chip Takeaways for 2026, earning national acclaim and standing proudly as the only takeaway in the area to make the prestigious list.
The accolade was awarded following two rounds of anonymous mystery dining visits organised by leading trade publication Fry Magazine. Judges assessed a wide range of criteria, including food quality, cleanliness, staff professionalism, value for money, ease of ordering and social media presence.
Facing a demanding pass mark this year, Lighthouse Fisheries achieved an outstanding score of 98 per cent. The mystery diner praised the warm welcome from staff, the quality of the batter, the varied menu and the fact that meals were freshly cooked to order.
In their report, they noted: “The staff were friendly and efficient in their service.”
Owner Gary Sharples said he was delighted with the recognition, adding that the award reflected the dedication of both staff and customers.
Competition organiser Reece Head also praised the team for maintaining high standards during a challenging year for the industry, marked by rising costs and ongoing pressures.
