Plans have been revealed to explore the creation of a multi-academy trust between Headlands and Bridlington secondary schools in Bridlington.
In a statement put out to the press by Sarah Bone, Headteacher of Headlands school, and Kate Parker-Randall (Headteacher of Bridlington School) they explained what was likely to happen in the near term.

“In our most recent discussion regarding the current re-emergence of the academy agenda as a Government priority, the successful position of both secondary schools within the town and the extremely positive relationship that has been built between the two schools.
“The Governing Bodies of both Bridlington School and Headlands School have taken the very proactive step of passing a resolution to explore conversion to academy status as a partnership.”
Governors have recognised the opportunities that a potential Multi Academy Trust centred around Bridlington and have focused on education within Bridlington can bring to the town both now and for a positive sustainable future, according to the letter.

“This resolution is merely the start of a long process of due diligence and consultation with you our community which will be ongoing as we journey together in this project over the coming months.
“We appreciate that any form of change can bring with it questions, consequently further details will be shared in the coming weeks and months.”

A Frequently Asked Questions document for parents will be provided and an email opportunity created to share any questions.
In addition, in the summer term there will be a face to face meeting with parents,

“I, alongside the Governing Body, felt it was important to share our developments with you, our parents, carers and community partners, as quickly as possible.” said Mrs Bone.

“After recent years of constantly communicating with through dark times around the pandemic, that we are able to now focus on our strategic planning for the long term future of education and support for Bridlington children and young people.
