Bridlington will play host to a parade and commemoration service to mark the 40 year anniversary of the Falklands War this April.
A Falklands 40 Anniversary Parade and Service will take place on Saturday 2 April and organisers are appealing for veterans, cadets and standard bearers to join the event.

The route for the parade will start on High Street in the Old Town and will step off between 14:30 – 14:40.pm.
Participants will parade to the Bridlington Priory Church for a service of commemoration which will be led by Rev Matthew Pollard at 3.pm.

Mike Rubery, who is one of the event organisers, said: “In order to assess numbers attending please let me know as soon as possible by contacting me via email –rnabrid@gmail.com.”
Bridlington Mayor Cllr Liam Dealtry said: “If you are a veteran of the Falklands or you know of anyone who served in the conflict who live in and around Bridlington or the area, please contact the organisers or myself via Bridlington Town Council so that we can get an idea of numbers.”

“This is a really special event and I would like to see as many people attend to either march or line the route of the parade to clap and cheer.” added Cllr Dealtry.

All members of the public are welcome to watch the parade and attend the service at the Priory.
