Its ‘Blooming Great in Bridlington’ and that’s official.

The town came away with a trio of top awards at the Yorkshire in Bloom (YIB) Awards 2024 held at a glittering event in the Riley Smith Hall in Tadcaster on 26th September.
After reforming in 2023, The Bridlington In Bloom team decided to re-enter the town into the YIB Awards 2024 competition, after a 15 year absence.

Said Martyn Coltman, who is the co-chairman of the Bridlington in Bloom committee along with Maureen Bell: “The team worked with groups, schools, businesses and ERYC Ground Services over the last 18 months, bringing new flower baskets and improvement initiatives to several areas of the town.
“Highlights included Bridlington Station; Sewerby Hall & Gardens; Old Town; Burlington School; Bondville Model Village; The Old Floral Pavilion and all entrants in the newly created Bridlington Gardens Competition.”

Martyn accepted the prestigious Gold for the Yorkshire Rose Coastal award and also the Best Overall New Entry in Yorkshire.
He also thanked the volunteers from the BrighteningUpBridlington group who meet monthly to keep many areas of the town litter free.

And the good news kept on coming with a third award presented for the brand new 60th anniversary White Yorkshire Rose flowerbed situated in the Pembroke Gardens near the Spa.
Martyn added: “These awards resulted in a prestigious Gold Award. An incredible result after a 15 year absence.”

Martyn collected the award along with Ben Lapworth from ERYC.
