After a serious road accident fifteen years ago which left Lisa Pearce fighting for her life, she has recently raised £600 for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance who helped to get her to hospital and save her life.
Lisa and several friends undertook a fancy dress pub crawl dressed as Alice in Wonderland characters and raised the fantastic amount from donations and sponsors.
Said Lisa, who lives at Ruston Parva, and has family in Bridlington: “The Fire Service cut me from the wreckage of my car and the crew of the Yorkshire Air Ambulance took care of my extensive injuries at the scene, twice resuscitating me before placing me on a spinal board and covering me in foil sheets to keep me warm.

“They flew me to Hull Royal Infirmary, having to resuscitate me again during the flight. The care, concern, dedication and medical expertise the crew showed me on that day will stay with me forever, from gently talking to me to comforting me and willing me to go on.”

After arriving at the Hull Royal Infirmary helipad in just 20 minutes, Lisa was handed over into the care of the waiting hospital staff, and after spending some time in the emergency resuscitation department.
A MRI scan confirmed that she had broken several vertebrae in her back and one in her neck, alongside various other injuries and breakages.

After initially being admitted to the high dependency ward, then the major trauma ward, Hull Royal Infirmary became Lisa’s home for 14 weeks (100 nights).
“Despite my injuries my spirit was not broken and my story is thankfully a positive one, as after leaving hospital I was eventually able to walk again.
“My life is very different now as sadly I have on-going health issues resulting from the accident and I have not been able to work since.
“The love and gratitude I have for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and the staff at Hull Royal Infirmary for
saving my life is immense.
“Yorkshire Air Ambulance is a fantastic charity that relies on donations to keep operating and flying and saving people like me.” added Lisa.
