Bridlington Local Community Lift (BLCL) is calling on local residents to step forward and help protect a vital service that supports some of the town’s most vulnerable people.

The volunteer-run scheme provides transport for residents who would otherwise struggle to reach important medical appointments, hospital visits and essential health services. With demand growing, BLCL is now urgently looking for new volunteer drivers to join the team.

By giving just a small amount of your time, you can make a huge difference to someone’s life — helping neighbours stay independent, healthy and connected to their community.

And there’s a bonus for new volunteers. Anyone who signs up before 23 February and completes their first five lifts will be entered into a special volunteer prize draw.

Prizes include:

A family day pass to Sewerby Hall and Gardens (up to four people) A family ticket to The Edge Aerial Adventure (up to four people) Two tickets to a show at Bridlington Spa (subject to availability)

BLCL volunteers use their own vehicles and choose when they are available, making it a flexible and rewarding way to give back.

Spokesperson Jane Evison for the service said:

“Every lift we provide helps someone get the care they need. Our drivers are the heart of what we do, and we’re always grateful for anyone willing to spare a little time for the community.”

“If you could help keep this lifeline service moving, BLCL would love to hear from you.”
