Bridlington Hospital has officially been accredited as an elective surgical hub, recognising the team’s commitment to delivering high-quality, efficient care for patients.
The hub model means faster access to common procedures such as cataract surgery and hip replacements, with ring-fenced surgical beds helping to reduce cancellations and waiting times.
The accreditation was awarded as part of NHS England’s Getting It Right First Time (GIRFT) programme, run in collaboration with the Royal College of Surgeons of England. Bridlington’s hub was assessed against a range of clinical and operational standards, including patient pathways, governance, and staff training.
Liz Hill, Associate Chief Operating Officer at the Trust, said: “We’re delighted to have Bridlington Hospital recognised as an accredited elective surgical hub. This reflects the hard work, dedication, and expertise of the team at Bridlington. By focusing on planned surgeries in a dedicated setting, they are helping to reduce waiting times and improve access to care for patients.”
Professor Tim Briggs, Chair of GIRFT, added: “All accredited sites are focused on delivering safe, high-quality care and an excellent patient experience. Our goal is to develop surgical hubs that improve patient flow and support faster recovery.”
“Bridlington now joins a select group of just 49 accredited hubs across England — a significant achievement for the hospital and everyone involved.”
