Bridlington will be heavily featured in the third of an 8-part series to be aired on BBC Two tonight (10th April) at 8pm.
The programme, which is a totally new series to the BBC, will see acclaimed chef Andi Oliver bring her party skills to various locations around Bridlington including the harbour, the RNLI station, a visit to Beth Christlow at The Nut and Nettle on High Street in Old Town and several other places in this new and exciting series.
The programme was filmed over a number of days last summer and sees not only the volunteers at Bridlington RNLI featured but also many other businesses around the town as well as the Bridlington Sea Cadets, locals and holidaymakers enjoying the wonderful fish inspired food caught locally and also the amazing atmosphere created at the event.
Andi explained after the shows were recorded: “The highlight from this series, is that I think it’s really an honour to travel the country and meet people who are doing such extraordinary work.
“I just feel that every town I have been to and every community that I have engaged with, I have just met people who are showing the best of themselves and show us how we can live if we do really work hard and do it right.”
Richard Pockley, Bridlington RNLI volunteer and local fisherman who was interviewed by Andi said: “This programme is not simply about the RNLI but it also illustrates the various businesses in the town.
“Andi spoke to me in relation to my shellfish business and what it means to the town. It was brilliant that the BBC should showcase the town in a good light as Bridlington, like many other seaside towns, often doesn’t get the coverage it fully deserves.”
